Tremont Street Methodist Episcopal Church is built.

Architect: George Meacham & S.S. Woodcock. With Hammatt Billings. Designed in the Gothic Revival style with two asymetrical steeples, it is located at 740 Tremont Street. The first church built from Roxbury Puddingstone in Boston, it becomes the home of the New Hope Baptist Church in the 1960s. That congregation moves to Hyde Park in 2015 and the building is sold for conversion into condominiums.
